Solarwinds (MSP Backup)

Solarwinds MSP

IASO is one of the leading brands in hybrid Cloud Backup and Disater Recovery for Managed Service Providers (MSP's).  It provides a premium platform for MSP's to service large and small enterprise business' accross the economic spectrum.  Enterprise strength and affordable, it measures up to its track record as a global leader in hybrid cloud backup solutions.

Cloud-based backup is an automatic and secure process to ensure that all the data and devices in your business are protected and available to you at anytime and anywhere. Should a virus hit, a computer crash or even a disaster strike, your most important data is automatically backed up and stored in a world-class Data Centre. Business continuity is ensured and the business will be in a position to restore. Considering that it in the "cloud", your backups are always available, no matter where you are. Everything that is backed up is automatically encrypted, so - as the responsible business custodian, you can be sure in the knowledge that it is safe, secure and only accessible by those authorised to do so.

Large files, databases, virtual machines or applications are proactively monitored for changes in between backups, instead of the backup software reactively searching for the changes after the backup starts. This has the added benefit of shaving minutes/hours off of your backup window. You can specify minimum file sizes to monitor as well as the application file types to track from within the Backup Manager. Backup Accelerator supports Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Hyper-V, and virtually any Windows platform file extension that you specify. Backup Accelerator kicks in and starts working after an initial backup to the cloud has completed or on the second backup following a system reboot.

How would you like to be able to protect your customers from unnecessary downtime due to data loss or system outages? Standby Image allows you to do just that, making data availability a reality for your customers.

This is available as a separate download as a multi-session Recovery Console and replaces the prior single-session tool. It is capable of managing restores of multiple data sources for multiple sites and backup devices to multiple recovery targets. A major benefit is that the Recovery Console is a powerful tool to arrange continuous restores and data recovery operations for multiple systems.

In the years of backups, IT had to restore data to an identically configured server. That meant IT often had to buy extra hardware (servers), set them up identically, and keep them until they were next needed to restore un-serviceable hardware. This is expensive, but compromised IT by placing older server technology in the front line - in the event of a catastrophic server failure. Bare Metal Recovery (BMR), also known as Bare Metal Restore, overcomes that problem.

A strong benefit of the archive ability (with the Backup Manager) is the function to retain data indefinitely. Compliance reasons have accelerated the need to selectively clean that information when it is needed.

Default settings, set the retention period at 28 days. This can be altered as and when determined.

LSV offers an onsite backup source as well as an additional tier tier in the Bastion Backup cloud.

If the backup isn't available due to internal network issues / disk crash / disaster, access to the data is gained through cloud. For remote users (satellite office), the cloud is a great option to secure the data online. Local Speed Vault will keep backups in sync even if there are connectivity issues. IASO will automatically cache the data and update the remote backup location when the network is restored, keeping the two backup copies synchronized.

Considering bandwidth issues and data transfer timing, IASO works with Deep Deduplication.  This means that with IASO your initial backup is a complete copy of all your selected data. True Delta reserves its position and only sends new data across the network to be backed up, working with just with the delta between the existing backup and fresh data. It works on the block level, which means that only the changes made within the file are updated and  the entire file does not need to be transmitted.

A great backup is a priority - but a great restore is even better. IASO restores the data with the help of the SystemState plug-in which can also automatically backup restore the system state of a Windows server. This enables a bare-metal restore where you can restore to an un-configured server. In other words, the backup includes all the information to set up the existing system (including the data) and presents a ready system for a new backup server.  Servers aren't just physical hardware anymore – they are often - virtual. May other functional options exist for VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V backups.

Scripts and run scripts can be created as pre or post  the scheduled backup.

Bandwidth throttling allows one to control over the time / limitations and speed of the backup or restore processes.

One can filter out specific file types from the backup.
